Adaptive Optics for Extremly Large Telescope will take place in Québec City in 2019. Join us from Sunday June 9th, 2019 to Friday June 14th, 2019 at the Québec City Convention Centre.

One of the major challenges that face the future extremely large aperture telescopes (ELT's) is adaptive optics, and the goal of the meeting is to gather specialists to review and discuss the latest developments on this field. The topics of the conference include ELT’s current design in terms of AO systems, related instruments and science goals, and also pathfinder projects planned or implemented on existing telescopes, including solar telescopes, which provide relevant results for the next ELT’s design phase.

  • Current designs of ELT AO systems
  • AO pathfinders and new concepts, including lab experiments, field experiments, and lessons learned from present AO instruments
  • Modelling and numerical simulations
  • Wavefront correction
  • Wavefront sensing
  • Laser guide star systems
  • Solar AO: daytime atmosphere characterization, extended source wavefront sensing and alternative sensing methods, image quality parameters etc.
  • ELT science with AO (e.g. astrometry, photometry, planet detection): system requirements and specifications for optimal scientific performance
  • Site testing and characterization, including the atmosphere, sodium layer, dome seeing etc.
  • AO reconstruction and control
  • Post-processing of AO data, including PSF reconstruction, image deconvolution and AO performance monitoring

Important dates

The conference will take place between Sunday June 9th, 2019 and Friday June 14th, 2019. More information regarding submission, notifications and other deadlines will be added soon.
